Journey (personal project)
A short, poetic exploration of the soul
Usually whenever I tell people that I'm married to an animator, their first question is usually something along the lines of:
"Oh wow, a writer and an artist!
Do you ever collaborate?"
...And up until Journey came about, my answer had always been "actually, no".
Journey aboard the existence experience
Journey started when Mikey (husband, animator, dreamboat), wanted to compile together some spare 3D sequences he'd recently created. Upon showing me his first draft, he asked that I write a poem inspired by the visuals (a test, if you will, to see what emotion might be evoked). My chosen words went down like a cosmic storm, and Mikey was delighted to lay them down alongside his animation.
To our delight, we found that the narrative added a whole new dimension to the visuals, elevating each sequence and giving profound meaning to the overarching compilation. The cherry on the proverbial cake came from voice actor Paul Casselle, who narrates our words with a distinguished documentarian tone.
The response to our technicolour baby was incredible! It was even featured on the Motionographer website.
