Dan & Harriet
College sweethearts Dan and Harriet were finally tying the knot after fourteen years together, and wanted a personalised poem that would capture their relationship and the wonderful, eclectic world they'd built together.
Honestly, it's hard to figure out where Harriet ends and Dan begins – they're so close and connected. The two share a taste in, well, basically everything; music, nostalgia, cartoons, games, films – all things nerdy and nineties.
Their house is a well decorated museum of figurines, toys, collectables and craftwork – you'll see something new every time you glance at a wall. It's a thing of beauty.

After chatting to both of them, I decided to write the poem from Dan's perspective; a love note to his favourite person. Harriet is a gem, and so integral to the person Dan is today. It was an honour to capture their dynamic in verse.

My Favourite
Our day is finally here, and
I know that you’ve been waiting.
Our friends have basically lost count
of the years we’ve been dating.
It’s been so long, since you and I
first met in Reading town,
only for you to tell me that
you’re leaving, Cornwall-bound.
Thank goodness that I took no heed
and pursued you all the same.
No matter what my consoles say,
our love’s my favourite game.
Together we have built a world
of treasures, toys and props.
Our shelves established homes for all
our leagues of Funko Pops.
Of every item that I love
and all the things collected,
you are my favourite. I’m so glad
it’s me that you selected.

Though your hair’s been every colour,
your style never sours.
And I’ll always be Scott Pilgrim
to your Ramona Flowers.
The years have seen you grow and change,
and I have watched you bloom,
becoming who you are today,
my light in every room.
And every space we’ve lived in,
by necessity or choice,
they’re home as long as I wake up
each morning to your voice.
The greatest parts of who I am
are mostly owed to you,
the belief you’ve always had in me,
and everything I do.
Your beauty and your madness,
you’re everything to me.
With you right now, forever more,
is where I’m meant to be.
