Emma & Jake
Emma and Jake met just after lockdown hit. In fact, it was due to government regulations and Bumble's dating radius that the pair matched and met in the first place!
But from a bleak time, something beautiful blossomed and Emma and Jake began to build a little world together in Hackney Wick. The two share an almighty wanderlust and love travelling. Like, proper travelling to South America and Japan – not just little holidays.
Jake proposed to Emma while they were away in Tokyo. He told me a story about getting down on one knee in a little Japanese garden – trying to time it so there was no one around.

Aside from their high-flying adventures, the pair are super low-key and love nothing more than doing nothing together. I loved writing a personal poem for a couple who felt so genuine, comfortable, and deeply familiar to me.

The Happiest Coincidence
It could have been your smile,
or the way your eyes matched mine.
Or the lockdown situation
that made our stars align.
Maybe it’s the way you made
my heart feel seen and true.
But something great was in the air
the day that I met you.
From Henley through to Hackney,
we’ve built a world together.
And shared in all that life may bring
through sun and stormy weather.
And now in front of all our friends
we celebrate and toast
to our love and lives together
and the details I love most.

Your empathy and patience,
our humour and your laughter.
Dog watching in the local park
and pastries shortly after.

We love an early evening in,
together we will cook.
I’ll edit on the sofa edge
while you sit and read your book.

I love your easy company,
and the way that we just fit
like our trusty Patty fleeces
we pack on all our trips.

From Norway down to Italy,
adventures we have planned,
in Chile and in Tokyo
where I asked for your hand.

No matter where we find ourselves,
regardless of the view,
I know that anywhere is home,
as long as you’re there too.
